What is it?
What is it?

A mechanism of blame-shifting that involves the projection of negative qualities and events onto an innocent victim. Scapegoating has been used throughout history, often by political elites, to blame already marginalized people for complex social issues beyond their control

What can we do about it?
What can we do about it?

The first step toward dismantling this oppressive mechanism is recognizing the way it functions in our society and in our own beliefs and affects. Start by noticing when political elites (like Trump) blame marginalized groups for issues they did not cause. Ask yourself how this serves his agenda, and how it protects your privilege
